The US Supreme Court is about to hear arguments for and against Arizona‘s Illegal immigration law which requires Police to stop people they think are in the country illegally and check their immigration status. The law has other measures opponents say are draconian in their nature. The Obama administration says immigration law is a federal issue and the court should strike down the Arizona law. How do you feel?
Conservatives want the court to make us a police state that doesn’t even have the benefits of most police states, like affordable healthcare.
It’s racial profiling and discrimination, pure and simple. Would a police officer suspect a WHITE guy from Canada or Ireland? If the answer is yes, then I would say OK. But we all know that in AZ, they would be targeting Latinos and all Spanish-speaking peoples. This economy would partially collapse if we didn’t have immigrants in this country. Immigrants spur economic activity: restaurants, rental housing, etc.
